The Lost Coast
In the late 1890’s, a small band of European settlers found their way to a picturesque area along the seaside bluffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Northern California. It was tough going and resources were scarce, but if they could survive the harsh environment for that winter, they would truly have an Eden for their families to live and prosper in. And then livestock began to vanish without a trace. It was unsettling, and the elders voiced their concerns. They decided to stick it out, post guards to watch as a means of determining what had happened. But when those members disappeared, it was decided that they would pack up and leave.
Years later, when a survivor of that settlement revealed the whereabouts of the beautiful area to Colonel Tom Donaldson and his 200 plus group of families, Donaldson led his party to that very spot overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It was everything the survivor said it was. The most beautiful place any of them had seen. Three months later, not a living sole remained.
